The Hammer Black Widow Pearl is regularly described as both “venomous” and “deadly” thanks to its high mass bias gas mask core with a flip block and its “Violent Reactive Pearl” (reactive resin) coverstock. This combination is intended to get more length and aggression at the end of the lane under medium oil conditions. The Hammer Black Widow Pearl is designed with intimidation in mind, and the logo of a black widow stands out sharply on all of the colorstock blends and colors. The Black widow pearl has an RG of 2.500 and is intended to be easily drilled to custom perfection. This ball can be used in conjunction with any other bowling ball, but it was designed with the idea that it would be a comprehensive set when used with the original Hammer Black Widow.

Designed to be a complement to the Hammer’s original Black Widow, I was a little concerned at first that owning the Black Widow Pearl might be a little redundant. However, one trip to the bowling alley and I changed my mind. This ball picks up exactly where my Black Widow leaves off, and after I brought it down just a little from its box finish, it got a reliably clean reaction through the front part of the lane and delivered solidly on the backend. After just one or two games, I was able to consistently deliver a heavy rolling turn at the end and I seriously upped my game. I would not start out using this ball until I was a few frames in, but once you have the lay of the lanes, so to speak, you will love the way the Hammer Black Widow Pearl drives down time after time. You have to be a little careful when you are drilling this ball because if you are careless you can damage the finish maybe a little more easily than you might with other bowling balls, but the results you get when you play will easily make the extra five or ten minutes worth your while.
