Review of the Hammer Raw Hammer Acid Bowling Ball

This ball has great carry and backend potential. I took mine out of the box and instantly was tearing up pins left and right. The color leaves a lot to be desired, however. It’s hard to see a defined break point. The Hammer Raw Hammer Acid has medium to high revs and works well on a medium to highly oiled lane. It has a heavy arc and responds well to being drilled. I’ve used the ball in a couple of different houses and seen consistent results.
I have encountered one problem, though. The ball tends to hook too much at times so I find myself switching balls out between games. It does get good length and strongly reacts off the break point. I like playing on medium oiled lanes and the Acid responded well to it. Heavy oil tends to hang on the ball and the finish wears down a lot faster than I expected. The ball needs to be maintained routinely to help it last.

Some of the guys I know sanded their balls and it seemed to improve their performance. I prefer to polish mine. Although I have to regularly do this, I find that it really helps my average. I can’t say enough good things about this ball! It is easily becoming my favorite!
