The Storm Tropical line is an entry-level line of bowling balls from storm. The balls come in a vast array of vibrant tropical colors and fragrances. They are designed to work under many different conditions and be highly responsive so that newer bowlers can use them easily with no complications as they get used to the sport on a competitive level. The Storm Tropical has a modified three piece core and is covered in reactive resin. In addition, the Storm Tropical is priced for value, and it is not only versatile but also can, if necessary, be the only ball in your bag according to the manufacturers. This “fun” line performs best on light oil, has low-medium flare and medium-high break point. The manufacturer notes that a few tiny pit holes in the coverstock on this ball are normal.

This is a great ball for the money, but it is definitely a bowling ball for a beginner or someone who is picking up the sport again after a long break. I bowled with the Storm Tropical on medium and dry conditions, and as long as I kept my speed up it really tore down the pins. However, I might call it more of a “pick-up” game ball than a serious competitor’s ball, which is not really a negative because Storm bills it as an entry-level ball. However, that being said, the Reactive Resin coverstock on the Storm Tropical is the same that Storm has used on a lot of powerhouse bowling balls in the past, so you cannot really call it “just” an entry level ball. You can get some good results with this thing and its core is much more highly engineered than most entry level bowling ball cores. The Storm Tropical will definitely make a difference if you have trouble with your solid pocket shot and I will definitely make it part of my regular practice collection. For the price, it offers amazing performance and you will get great continuation given the price of the ball. There really is not a ball that will give you better bang for your buck.
